Hello all and welcome to my little food haven, the Cowen Park Kitchen blog.
I am a "retired" culinary professional with experience in fine dining, but what excites me most is making honest food from scratch with creativity, a sense of culture, passion and courage. And elbow grease. Metaphorically speaking.
I live in beautiful Seattle, Washington and use a small apartment kitchen (which tries my patience daily!) with my best friend and partner who is also an experienced cook. We make a lot of messes.
I try to eat reasonably healthily with a lot of variety and not consider silly things like fads, diets, health scares, or numbers on scales. Food should be enjoyed and respected—food is not an enemy. It's not always easy to be moderate—but that's the goal.
